The painter Soshana (1927-2015) staged more than 100 exhibitions of her work, and succeeded early on in making a name for herself. However, owing to her Jewish origins, she sadly had to leave her homeland when she was still a child. She obtained her artistic training in London and New York, and later in Vienna. One of her great passions was travelling. She travelled to the hot-spots of the Moderne movement and befriended Pablo Picasso in Paris, who painted her.

Her diaries reveal private insights into the unknown world of famous artists, observations on the lives of other women and Jewish communities in various countries. A gripping read of personal views, social observations and fascinating encounters, astutely recounted by an emancipated artist.
