Die Arbeit nimmt eine empirische Analyse der aktuellen sprachlichen Situation im Baskenland vor. Die beiden baskischen Teilpopulationen auf franzoesischem und spanischem Territorium werden miteinander verglichen, und verschiedene Parameter, wie u.a. die Verbreitung der baskischen Kulturtraditionen, die Verbreitung und Anwendung der baskischen Sprache und die entsprechenden Einstellungen zur baskischen Identitat, werden differenziert betrachtet.
