Als Reaktion auf die pluralistische Literatur um die Jahrhundertwende versucht der deutsche Autor Paul Ernst (1866 1933), eine nach antiker Variante modellierte Tragodie zu reetablieren. Diese Arbeit weist nach, dass Ernsts Formenrestitution trotz der Bemuhung, der von ihm diagnostizierten zeitgenossischen Formauflosung entgegenzuwirken, um religios-mystischer Ansatze willen notwendigerweise selbst zur Sprengung der Form fuhrt.
