Asher, part-Jewish and part-Cherokee, was born in Tennessee to parents who wanted him to settle down and marry a nice Jewish girl. Asher had other ideas. He wanted to be free. He thumbed to Florida, where he earned his living doing odd jobs. It was on the beach in Florida that he discovered his talent for painting.

He decided to move to Europe and ended up in Germany, where he met his future wife. They were both targeted by Neo-Nazis, who defaced Asher’s paintings and threatened their lives. With the help of a neighbor, one-eyed Jack, Asher retaliated but had to suffer the consequences.

He finally settled down to family life in Scotland. When one-eyed Jack followed him there and threatened his family, Asher decided enough was enough. He had no other choice. The windswept cliffs would keep his secret forever.
