Odd One Out
Danielle Chaperon
What happens when your best-friend bonds with the new-girl-in-school? Can two become three or will you be the odd-one-out?
Annabelle and I were inseparable. We were best friends and we did everything together. That is, until the horrible, terrible day when the new girl arrived. Now she is Annabelle’s best friend, and I’m the odd one out.
If you ask me, two is better than three … but no one’s asking me. Ages 4 & Up

Alexa Dretzke
Clara and Annabelle are soulmates, complete in their friendship. Then along comes Juliette. Heartbroken, Clara watches Annabelle and Juliette’s friendship blossom as she tags along, feeling on the outer; life can be so unfair! This is such a common experience in childhood and yet feels singularly isolating and will resonate with many a child and adult.
The illustrator, Iris, is a graphic novel artist and the pictures have a simple sensibility. Along with Danielle Chaperon’s candid text, they make for a standout picture-book for children aged 3+.
