Les Vaillants d'Ako: Le Mythe Des Quarante-Sept Ronins Au Japon Et En Occident

The story of these forty-seven ronins, originally an anecdote from the annals of the shogunal palace in Edo, quickly became a literary myth. This study analyzes the rewritings and cinematic adaptations of this myth in Japan as well as literary works based on it in China and in the West.
