Magical Tales of The Shee, Book 2: The Book of Neve - Illustrated
"I open the artifact cabinet to take a closer look at the ancient statue. "Tally, I think this is a statue of me."
"What?" Tally reaches in and picks up the statue. "I think you're...!"
Suddenly, we hear a weird scraping noise coming from the floor behind us. We both spin around.
"What the...!" Tally exclaims.
A large stone floor tile is slowly sliding open, revealing a shallow hole in the floor. We slowly approach the opening and peer in."
The story begins when Neve receives a letter from her Uncle Cormac, a professor of Irish Mythology at Blackrock College. He promises to visit her in Cloone on her upcoming 13th birthday with important news about her past, present, and future. But when he fails to show up and later vanishes without a trace, Neve knows something is terribly wrong.
Determined to uncover the truth, Neve sets out with her fearless and quirky best friend Tally and Tally's skeptical brother Dara on a quest that leads them to Blackrock College, a spooky building perched on a cliff in the town of Rossmore, overlooking the wild Atlantic Ocean.
Inside the college, the trio discover hidden passageways, secret chambers, and an ancient book - The Book of Prophecies and Magic. But before they can learn more, Dara vanishes, and Neve and Tally realize they are caught in something far more dangerous than they ever imagined.
The deeper they dig, the clearer it becomes that Neve is at the heart of an ancient Shee prophecy.
The story is meant to appeal to 21st Century children. However, it is set in a time before electronics when children spent a lot of time engaged in make-belief play outdoors and had adventures without excessive adult involvement. Elements of Irish Mythology, Folklore and Fairy Culture are woven into each story in the series.
Magical Tales of the Shee Series will appeal to young emerging readers ages 7-11 who are fans of the Fairy/Magic/Quests genre and are ready for slightly darker and more complex themes.
Many contemporary fairy stories geared towards younger readers have simple storylines. With the inclusion of some risk, (very mild) evil villains, mystery, and suspense, "Magical Tales of the Shee" will appeal to young readers who are ready to level up but do not yet have the decoding and comprehension skills, nor stamina to tackle more complex stories.
