This book contains four exciting stories of the old west covering a long search for gold, a family story from Tennessee to Colorado, a misguided trip into the wilds of Mexico and a bank robbing brother. Badger's Folly: Badger McCoy was young and most people felt that he was foolish for following the dreams of 'Crazy' Ned Rafferty. Ned was a man who believed that the gold they were pulling out of the creeks had to come from somewhere and when he could no longer carry on the search he enlisted the help of young Badger McCoy. It was the help of Ned's granddaughter that finally settled Badger's Folly. Dead Reckoning: When Franz Brandt arrived in America he was indentured to the Virginia Company working in the fields of the new settlement of Jamestown, It was much better than being in a prison in Germany and he was the start of a long line of Brandts. When Theo Brandt moved west with his family it was Oregon who was calling them, but the Sioux had a different plan for them. With the change of plan and the winter closing in on them the vacant cabin looked good until the owner showed up. Men were looking to kill him and his family and he was now in a fight for his life. Blindsided: Avery Langdon was on the run...not from the law but from himself. He soon learned that a man who had a reputation with a gun was in demand, but he was not interested in earning a living selling his gun. When it came to a time to prove he was the fastest he did not fail but it left a young man lying on as saloon floor. When a father approached him with a picture of his daughter who had been kidnapped his feeling of danger was overrun by compassion and he headed into the wilds of Mexico. The Double Double Cross: The O'Dell brothers were living a peaceful life on their Kansas farm but that was not enough for young Billy. When his wondering ways led to a bank robbery he was sent to prison where his jealousy of his brother only grew stronger. Freedom did not change his feelings or his ways and when the exploits of the O'Dell Gang grew the hard feelings against his brother also grew. Trying to live a quiet life under a different name ended with a visit from Billy and a plan to enlist his brother's help in robbing the local bank.
