A graduate, working as a janitor at his University, Eric Marland, although fit and intelligent, has trouble finding his place in the world. He lives with his girlfriend Bonny and helps tutor students at the University. He designed a fantasy adventure game for internet gaming, but never anticipated actually living in a world like he designed. Eric lives in a temperate climate; he wakes up one day in the middle of summer, with his house snowed in, deep enough to block doors and windows. Then the impossible happens, and there is a knock on the door. Thinking he is still asleep Eric opens the door and in walks an alien creature. This is where the story really begins. Eric decides to go to this world, called Ethar, through this alien's portal. It is a place where myths and legends are born. Traveling through the barrier between worlds, Eric is changed and finds himself with magic and power he did not have before. He is quickly pulled into the affairs of a local kingdom. His journey takes him into the tapestry of war, intrigue and adventure.
