Sara, 34 and a mother of three, never understood her father, Paul. He had left her, her mother, and her sister after returning from the war. Years later, after Sara grew up and moved away with her husband and children, her father reunited with her mother.
Eventually, Sara and her family decide to move closer to her mother. When Sara and Paul reconnect, their reunion turns into a heated argument. That night, Sara's mother makes a wish-and the next morning, Sara and her father wake up in each other's bodies.
The only person who knows the truth is Sara's 3-year-old daughter, Emma, who is sworn to secrecy. To return to their own bodies, Sara and Paul must learn to navigate each other's lives without any physical contact. They are given cell phones to communicate only during emergencies and pads of paper to document their daily routines.
Now, in her 79-year-old father's body, Sara feels his aches and pains, changes his wardrobe to skinny jeans, and accidentally takes his Viagra instead of his heart medication during a golf tournament. Meanwhile, Paul struggles to raise three kids while Sara's husband is away-potty training Emma, organizing middle child Dora, and dealing with Jenny, the eldest, and her attitude.
Will they truly understand the meaning of walking in each other's shoes, or will they remain switched forever?
