The Epistle to the Romans is presented in the spirit of building on the Historic Christian Faith, particularly as embodied in its high-water mark, the Westminster Standards. It brings into focus the foundational doctrines often neglected since the Reformation, especially the doctrine of clarity and inexcusability, in order to establish the need for the gospel. Pastor Surrendra Gangadean argues that the righteousness of God, as revealed in the gospel and articulated by St. Paul, cannot be rightly understood apart from the clarity of general revelation, which renders unbelief inexcusable and justifies the call to repentance. Without this foundation, the gospel becomes unintelligible, and the Church loses its power to leaven the culture and disciple the nations.Drawing on decades of preaching and teaching, this volume is both theological and pastoral. It integrates the biblical worldview with Rational Presuppositionalism, follows the progression of Romans from doctrinal issues to practical applications, and provides personal encouragement for service in the kingdom. This book outlines a plan for natural theology and raises awareness of the task of Christian philosophy, as well as the need to settle the voluntarist dispute. This work is offered as a foundation for a second Reformation-one that seeks to restore the Church to its intended role as the pillar and ground of the truth, and to labor until the earth is filled with the knowledge of God's glory by fulfilling both the cultural and missionary mandates.
