In John B. Thompson's sizzling, pulp noir classic The Eager Ones, three women recklessly defy conventional morality to get what they want -- Angela teases, Polly pleases, and Sissie takes love where she finds it. Their raw passions ignite a small, rural town, changing it forever. Back in print for the first time in over 60 years.Polly craves love the way an alcoholic craves liquor. Some say she's sick, but many men have tried to cure her. Angela was born into high society, but chose low-society instead. And Sissy is ravishing, untamed, a child of the backwoods. All three women want wealthy young Don McLeod, and will do whatever it takes to get him.
John Burton Thompson (1911-1994) was an under-appreciated author of sharply observant, brilliantly-written stories of the deep south in the 1950s & '60s and "apprenticed" under author Jack Woodford, who was known for his prolific output of "adult" novels. Unfortunately, his 75 books were packaged and marketed as "sleaze" for their uncompromising explicitness (some deservedly, we must admit). So his bold work fell into obscurity...until now.
