We become addicted to a wide variety of substances, things, behaviors, individuals, emotions, and even thought patterns. At its core, addiction is less about the substance or behavior itself and more about the underlying psychological and emotional factors that drive us to engage in these behaviors. In other words, what we become addicted to is ourselves - or rather, the self that we have been programmed to be. Breaking free from addiction requires a fundamental shift in how we view ourselves and our relationship with the world. Since the addiction is actually an addiction to the self, we need to shed off the old self and create a new identity and a new self that gets us more of the results we want in life. By learning healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with stress and emotions, cultivating supportive relationships with others who share our values and goals, and finding meaning and purpose in life beyond addictive behaviors, we can begin to reprogram ourselves toward a healthier way of being.
By taking steps toward greater self-awareness and personal growth, we can break free from the chains of addiction and live lives full of meaning and purpose.
Dr. Rodman's Personal Transformation Therapy approach to End Every Addiction uses Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness Training, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Eye Movement Integration (EMI), and Brain Health Coaching. By focusing on thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while emphasizing wholeness and growth clients make changes at the identity level and achieve transformation.
Dr. Jeffrey J. Rodman received his BS in Chemical Dependency Counseling and M.Ed. in Counseling and Development from George Mason University, in Virginia, and his PhD in Religion. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP), and an internationally Board-Certified Clinical Master Hypnotherapist (CCMHt).
