Dutch Verlander has what he thinks is a break up argument with his girlfriend, Stephanie Dowell. Shaken, he feels that she has moved on to another lover, making him feel like the kid left without a chair in the kid's game of "Odd Man Out." He leaves the city and heads for a friend's remote vacation home in Northern Wisconsin to think about what to do with the rest of his life. Only there he finds more trouble, a small town with extreme racist members that support a lying political agenda and a party of politicians trying desperately to keep their leader in the White House, even if it means killing. Their only opposition is an attractive Asian-American, part owner of the local newspaper and a nearby Indian reservation that is in desperate need of financial help.
