While 29 friendly nations participate in the bi-annual RIMPAC exercise the United States demonstrates a new air-to-air missile to its ally Australia. Lightning strikes a US Navy Super Hornet as it flies through a rogue thunderstorm above the Indian Ocean causing the pilot to accidentally jettison an experimental top-secret AIM-174 air-to-air missile into the remote triple canopy jungle-covered mountains of Northern Sumatra. Once operational, the missile will become the US Navy's primary defense against China's hypersonic ship-killing missiles. It must be retrieved at all costs before Chinese intelligence agents locate it and take it back to their masters to be studied by their engineers.
