This volume is a collection of essays from the annual conference on Mediterranean studies hold in Casalvieri, in the Val di Comino. As in other collections from our previous conferences, this one ranges from encounters and clashes to themes of the sea and racism in the works of Vincenzo Consolo, to the linguistic and media representation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and also includes analyses of aesthetic articulations such as films such as The Godfather and Il primo amore. In addition, discussions on the Mediterranean as a vital phenomenon, which further underlies concepts of identity and representation, are articulated from both a folkloric and architectural point of view.
