COVID-19 HELPERS: A story for kids about the coronavirus and the people helping during the 2020 pandemic

Beth Bacon

In early spring, Emory Global Health Initiative sponsored a contest for a children’s eBook about COVID. COVID-19 Helpers was awarded the prize from over 250 entries. Since that time, the authors, with the blessing of EGHI, have produced the book via Ingram POD program and offered the book in Spanish (and also Indonesian). The book has sold briskly, and the authors asked Blair to take over the publication of the books.

It’s easy to see why the book has done so well with so little distribution support: of all the COVID children’s books, it is the most straightforward. The authors have managed to tell the truth about the coronavirus without making it scary or dour. They have focused on what kids-and others-can do to combat the virus and thrive during this time.
