This teacher’s manual provides pedagogical guidance and worksheets on applying the Common Core, English Language Arts (ELA) standards to The Tortoise and the Hare; The Friends and the Bear; and The Crow and the Pitcher. Common Core Standards - Reading Literature: RL.2, RL.3 - Reading Informational Text: RI.2, RI.3 - Writing: W.1, W.2, W.3, W.4 The purpose of this manual is to facilitate the teacher’s efforts to create practical lesson plans. This guidance is provided in the form of mappings between the common core standard and the passages of each story. In addition, this manual includes worksheets in support of the guidance and the pages of each story.
