The seemingly fictional tales of what LeRoy Buchholz endured are only matched by those of his resilience. Dan would never fully grasp the importance of the lessons LeRoy taught him during his time at college until some years later when he drives from Chicago to La Crosse, racing to make it to LeRoy’s funeral in time. LeRoy was a Special Olympic bowler and bocce ball player. He mowed lawns for a living and did odd jobs throughout town with the help of his dear friend, Rob. The crazy tales of horrific accidents, bike theft, skulduggery, ice fishing mishaps, thwarted sexual assaults, and a friendship with Elvis Presley merely scratch the surface in this homage to one of the most intriguing Americans who ever lived.
