It is 1982 and James Martin has been given a new assignment by his employers, James & Brown, to join the management team of the newly acquired Waterford Industries. James and his wife, Katrina, relocate from Wisconsin to California and embark on their new adventure. James has to explain quite often that Waterford Industries has no connection at all to the famous Waterford of Ireland who make glass. It is instead a diverse company with interests in aerospace, access and marine, new industries to James who must learn much as he takes over the company. When things are going well, there is a change in the management of James & Brown and they wish to embark in a new direction that will involve divesting some of the peripheral businesses that are not the mainstream aerospace company, giving James new challenges.
