Self-Control in Action trains athletes and coaches on 16 critical lessons on character, including accountability, discipline, alertness, and many more, as part of the Virtues to Victory Series of Sports Bible Studies. Each book in the series focuses on the fruit of the Spirit: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Christian coaches and athletes can experience significant spiritual growth and transformation, referred to as "fruit" in the Bible. This comparison to fruit-bearing is fitting as these changes reflect the work of God's Spirit within us, producing new behaviors and attitudes. The ultimate goal of this transformation is to bring glory to our Heavenly Father.

Self-control is all about establishing boundaries, living purposefully, and doing so with active accountability. Coaches and athletes need to be alert and attentive to the sins and temptations that are common to humanity. Therefore, they are aggressive in their pursuit of knowledge and invite others to speak truth into their life. Self-controlled coaches and athletes are disciplined as they focus on the eternal rewards promised to them by God Almighty.

Each study provides an easy-to-use format that includes a: - Devotion - Bible Study - Chapel Talking Notes - One-minute training video
