Deadly Defiance

In this 10th Stan Turner Mystery Jodie Marshall has worked her way up from secretary to attorney and in her first case Stan assigns her the lead in the investigation of the suspicious death of a worker in a local sweatshop. The family believes the owner, Icaro Melendez, ordered the worker’s murder in retaliation for his complaint to the Department of Labor. Thrilled by the assignment Jodie boldly launches into an investigation and soon finds herself working undercover.

While Stan and Jodie are busy with Melendez, Stan’s partner, Paula Waters, takes on the defense of a young mother accused of stabbing her husband to death with an ice pick. Paula is ecstatic to get such a high profile case until she finds out her client is broke and this isn’t the first time she’s been accused of killing her husband with an ice pick.
