The Necromancer

Alex Hicks is a police detective and (closeted) magic user, enjoying a lavish Melbourne lifestyle with his hot, rich, adoring boyfriend.

But when he is forced to reveal himself as a magician to his colleagues, he is drawn into a horrific magic case involving the faculty of Melbourne Magic School and a summoned abomination called a revenant. The cast of suspects have motives aplenty and no decent alibis between them, while Alex encounters a series of sorcerous attacks of ever-escalating menace.

Worse, he has to work the case with his magic school ex, Robbie, whom he definitely does not still have any feelings for. Ten years earlier, Alex and Robbie lived their best lives as magic students. Things were just about perfect. Alex tried out for the magic sports team, made friends, excelled in his studies. He was practically the big man on campus!

Whether in the present or the past, Alex and Robbie will come to discover that, even if you can use magic, life is never easy.
