A local legend in Broome, Uncle Neville Poelina has lived a colourful life. He has worked as a tourism operator, a businessman, a pearl diver and a labourer for main roads WA. He s faced down sharks, crocodiles, and racists with wit and humour. Warm hearted and compassionate, he tells the story of his family with compelling intelligence and generosity. Neville grew up in Broome, the son of a Nyikina woman and a Timorese pearl diver, and has 13 siblings and a large extended family. His knowledge of the Kimberley is unique and detailed, and he brings a sense of humour and engaging and surprising compassion to his storytelling.
