The problem with human trafficking, from the perspective of the traffickers, is that there is always the risk of kidnapping and trafficking someone you really shouldn't have. When Deacon leaves the military and returns to his father's ranch on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert in south Texas, near the Mexican border, he eventually becomes bored with life on the ranch. While he tries to figure out what to do with his life, his father mentions the Sheriff's Department is looking for a new deputy. With nothing better to do, Deacon applies. Being from the area and with his military experience, he got the job.

Out on patrol, Deacon receives a call to be on the lookout for a van coming from the south.

He finds it and the chase is on.

With Deacon gaining ground of them, the drivers of the van decide to toss out a body. Deacon has no choice, he has to stop. The body is that of a young Mexican woman. Once cleaned and stitched up in hospital, she turns out to be incredibly attractive.

Like many attractive things in nature, she is dangerous. Not in her own right, but because of who her father is on the other side of the border.

The traffickers soon realise they've made a mistake. They have sown the wind, and now they'll be forced to reap the whirlwind.

Here begins a tale of friendship, revenge and a slightly risque romance that stretches across the border in both directions.
