The Wonder of Stillness is a practical guide for parents, teachers, carers, family and friends to help children deal with the stress and challenges of our busy and fast changing world. It provides techniques to help children reflect on their feelings and senses and use their creative imagination to promote their self-esteem and confidence.
The introduction sets out the purpose of the book which is to help chidren experience the benefits of quiet time and discover inner peace. The book seeks to achieve this by providing practical guidance to readers using the meditation scripts provided. Definitions of meditation and mindfulness are also included.
There is a Practical Guidance section that provides a comprehensive set of practical instructions including setting up the room, children’s posture, use of music and drawing materials, selecting the meditation, preparation for and advice on reading out the scripts, affirmations, chanting and advice on regularity of practice.
The main part of the book is divided into five sections of meditations: Calming, Uplifting, Creativity, Confidence and Self-Healing, each containing a variety of scripts. Notes are provided at the beginning of each meditation to help set the ideal environment and to provide ideas for discussion and/or creative activity afterwards.
A final section includes resources and further reading and includes Testimonials and information about the Author.
