AUSTRALIAN AUTHOR When You Left is a picture book for 4- 8 year olds, and explores the theme that when parents break up and one parent moves on, it’s okay to have muddled feelings. A child’s parents split up and a new parent, Alex, has come on the scene. While the child desperately wants their parents to get back together and wants to dislike the new parent, there is a realisation that the sadness gets better, there can be room to love another parent and that the future can look hopeful. AGES: 4 to 8 AUTHOR: Lorraine Horsley is passionate about learning and helping people overcome fear and self doubt on their education journey. A sickly child, Lorraine didn’t attend school much, but when she left she made up for lost time and still loves studying. Lorraine has a Bachelor of Arts in English, an Associate Degree in Training and Development, a Master of Arts in Professional Writing and Literature and is about to embark on another education journey with a Higher Degree by Research. Lorraine calls Australia home and for most of her life she has worked in the media. For many years she was a presenter and producer with ABC Radio. She’s also spent the last couple of decades teaching and tutoring students at the start of their higher education journeys. When not teaching or studying, Lorraine spends her time writing. She loves writing stories for children and is currently working on an adult novel. She is a long-time member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and is a committee member of the Children’s Book Council of Australia WA Branch (CBCAWA).
