Abbie's True Colours is an inspiring narrative non-fiction book about the true meaning of pride, based on 12-year-old Abbie Jane, who wanted to create positive change in her community, in the face of bullying. You only see joyful and beautiful rainbows when you look up, so Abbie (now 15) started giving out free rainbow beads for shoelaces, so, like here, victims of bullying (who would often be looking down) could see the rainbows and know that they weren't alone. Her idea caught on and now, The Rainbow Shoelace Project has become a global movement! AGES: 4 to 7 AUTHOR: Claire Thompson is an Australian children's author based in Brisbane, Australia. Driven by her background in journalism, she has a nose for sniffing out true stories to empower and inspire. As a loyal ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, Claire has written this book in collaboration with its protagonist, young LGBT activist, Abbie Jane and donated a share of profits to the Rainbow Shoelace Project.
