This cook book is the culmination of the Home Cooking Challenge held at Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy in 2021. Food Technology teacher Jo Drury sent out the challenge to all students at the school during the COVID lockdown of 2021; to spend quality time with their family creating their favourite home recipes. Families were then asked to write up and submit their favourite recipes, accompanied by their memories and thoughts about why this recipe means so much to them. The recipes sent in were amazingly eclectic and demonstrated what a wonderfully culturally diverse school family we are. The memories and thoughts are both happy and poignant as many remember loved ones they could no longer see. Over 50 recipes and stories are shared in this colourful recipe book which has been published for everyone in the school and the wider community to enjoy. All profits from the sale of the cook book go to the PTA who raise funds for the benefit of all the students at Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy, and the Home-Start Erewash charity.
