Portrait Miniatures from the National Galleries of Scotland

The Scottish National Portrait Gallery is home to Scotland’s national collection of portrait miniatures and comprises works, which date from the mid-sixteenth century to the present day. This book illustrates a selection of works by key miniaturists and features portraits of many important Scottish historical figures such as: James Hepburn 4th Earl of Bothwell, the third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots; James VI and I and Robert Burns who was depicted in the last year of his life. A complete list of all the works in the collection is also included.
