P is for Perec and Paris. A double issue of AA Files (45/46) centres on four translated texts by the French writer Georges Perec. In each of these Perec visits a site in Paris (linked to a moment or detail of his life) and records as simply as he can, what he sees and feels at each location. The process is repeated over a number of years, producing a portrait of the sites, the city and the author, and an attempt to describe in words what binds them all. Contributions by authors, architects, artists and urbanists celebrate Perec’s work and assess its impact throughout these fields.
