Elson Readers Book Five

Book Five is the first volume devoted to helping the student read to learn as opposed to learn to read, a subtle, but important, distinction. The picture books are left behind, and the reader is introduced to a world made of words. Illustrations play a diminishing role, while the literature itself is emphasized.
