Taboo

Therapeutic encounters often raise issues around topics that are considered taboo in society - such as death, disease, sex and abuse. The contributors to this, the second volume of the cross-disciplinary Arts Therapies Research Library , focus on the nature and artistic expression of taboos during therapy. They also examine taboo areas between therapist and client. Topics covered include split gender role conflict, taboos in child and family psychiatry, and the visual representation of the diseased body. The contributors are drawn from across the arts therapies, but the volume seeks to challenge and stimulate all professionals working in a therapeutic setting.
