This epistolary novel taking place in the late ‘40s/early '50s is a roller coaster of emotions mainly experienced by Marilyn (Lyn) Ash as she languishes over Mark Butler, her boss, the Publicity Manager of Golden Realm Films of Wardour Street, London.
However it is not only her unrequited love with which she is concerned. When two precious friends, Belle and Norma, with whom she worked, both emigrated, Lyn knew she would be chief letter writer to keep the others in contact and retain their affection.
Consequently Belle in Tehran with her Persian husband, Dovoud, and Norma with her family opening a Deli in Houston, sent their letters across the Atlantic for Lyn to spread their news and offer them advice when necessary.
As for Lyn’s own problem, 'les girls’ wrote offering sympathy for her frustrated state but gave little support for what they considered would be an unsuitable relationship. How could it be otherwise when Lyn came from a Jewish family and Mark was of a different faith.
Love and Religion. What anguish they can both bring.
