Atlantic Gateway: The Port and City of Londonderry Since 1700

This study takes a fresh look at the economic role of the North West and the port and city of Derry. It sees the region as central to exchanges of labour and goods across the mercantilist North Atlantic, prospering again in open 19th-century markets, but peripheralized by state intervention in the 20th century until American investment and the European Union offered new opportunities.
