Computers and Art

This volume gathers contributions from a broad spectrum of individuals concerned with the use of the computer as a tool for artists. The approaches taken vary; different contributors look at the historical, philosophical and practical implications, amongst others, of the use of computer technology in art practice. The variety of approaches is matched by diversity of background with contributors including an art critic, an educator, a practising artist and a researcher. The editor’s contribution looks at the potential for future developments in the field, covering both the artistic and the computational aspects of the field. The collection brings together theories and advances in the use of computers in art as well as looking in a practical way at the computational aspects and problems involved.
