The editor and his family realised that we had in our keeping several poems and comic verses, composed at different times and in different places, which deserved to be brought together into one book. The result is a compendium of verses, each one illustrated by Rosie Wellesley, depicting many aspects of family life - childhood terrors, failed flirtations, schooldays nostalgia, lost house keys, sibling rivalries, lazy gardeners, brushes with the law, confrontations with angry landlords, angry captains of golf; poems about dogs and by dogs: feisty dogs, clever dogs, dim-witted dogs, lascivious dogs, naughty dogs, greedy dogs. For dogs have feelings and having no language need humans to speak for them.
