Make-Up Chart

Make-Up Charts were initially popular with beauty school students and professional make-up artists but as the cosmetics industry has grown, their usage has become more widespread.

Usually, the artist will paint the face directly on paper with real make-up (using brushes and applicators). There are numerous tutorials on YouTube showing how they are used, including very skillful highlighting and contouring techniques (contouring is a great keyword!)

There is a rapidly evolving world of make-up vloggers and influencers, and even male beauty bloggers are getting in on the act with top stars, Shane Dawson, Jeffree Starr and James Charles all boasting between 15 and 23 million subscribers each.

These charts can be adapted for cosplay and costume make up for conventions, movies and theatre. Also consider how they can be tailored to particular demographics (e.g. by ethnicity, gender identification, seniors, people with disabilities) or to particular subcultures (e.g. furry, goth, cyber, pin-up.).

Another key target audience is people who have MLM cosmetic businesses as they can use the charts to practice looks they want to show their customers. Private label companies like Lady Burd and YourNamePro have also made it affordable for people to start their own cosmetic lines, so there may also be a market for private labelers who could use books to promote or support their brands.
