Needle-felting is an increasingly popular craft because it can be used to create very nearly anything! Felt Sculptures contains 15 beautiful and quirky nature-based projects, ranging in difficulty from beginner to intermediate.

The pieces are typically created with wool roving (a long and narrow bundle of fibre), that has been cleaned, carded and dyed. The needle used for felting isn't a typical tapestry needle nor sewing needle - it has a series of sharp barbed notches on either side, designed to agitate the fibres as the needle is poked in and out of the wool. To create a 3d object, a small amount of wool fibre is tightly rolled up into a bundle. The wool is then stabbed over and over again with the felting needle to lock the fibres together. Eventually creating a firm texture which can be used to create 3D felt decorations.
