Freya lives a normal life in London until one day she spots a Shade, a malevolent shadow hanging over her art teacher. From that point on everything starts to go wrong and before she can work out what is happening circumstances force Freya and her family to move North. Freya likes her new home and the majestic hills that surround it but the Shades are growing stronger and soon she discovers that the world around her is vulnerable to attack.
