This is one of six new titles in the popular ZigZags series of first reading books made up of real stories with a beginning, a middle and an end, and turn-the-page appeal. The stories don’t exceed 150 words, and are ideal for emergent readers, covering a range of genres to support literacy requirements at KS1. These include humorous stories, fantasy stories, rhyming stories and stories from a range of cultures. They are accompanied by bright, colour pictures, which will reassure the most reluctant of readers and help develop visual literacy skills. Each story contains 80 per cent of the words specified in the list drawn up by the QCA as high frequency words that children should be taught at this level.
