Growing up in Glasgow in the 1970s and 80s, Sharon had an incredibly tough childhood of physical, mental, and sexual abuse. When Sharon was eight years old, she came across the gravestone of a young girl named Rose, who was seven years old when she died. As a way to cope, Sharon visited Rose regularly and told her about the traumatic events unfolding in her life. Rose became Sharon's best friend and confidante.

Through alcohol, drugs and an eating disorder, Sharon tried to numb her pain. It was only at the age of 18 when Sharon escaped her terrible life, finding friendship and love.

Since then, Sharon has stepped through an oscillating journey of healing with the love and support of friends, family and various therapies.

Sharon has found the courage to share her story and hopes that something in these pages may help someone suffering abuse.

She now lives happily in Australia with her wonderful husband and two children.
