In 2024, Brooklyn Poder entered the first Morisset Rotary School Writing Competition.

Her story caught the attention of one of the judges and she was invited to participate in a mentoring program sponsored by Kani Consultants.

In 2025, Sandra Joy and Linda Hutchinson, met with Brooklyn for 90 minutes each month for six months, and the three authors worked on Brooklyn's writing skills.

At the end of the mentorship, Brooklyn said:

"Now I want to teach my younger sister how to write because she's a great storyteller".

The three stories in this book are the competition entry and two written during the mentorship.
