This is the seventh book in Nic Thorn and Associates series about investigations into scams, frauds and misunderstandings, set in modern-day Australia. All the books are littered with humorous banter, music and pop-culture references
This time they head to Ouyen, Nic's home town, on the Victorian and South Australian border, and not everyone likes a homecoming, especially if you like to keep secrets. Sometimes people need to know superheroes come in all shapes and sizes- not just flashy capes and cool disguises. One of his old school friends calls upon him to locate his missing wife, and the team go a little batty trying to sort it all out. Whilst this is not normally within the scope of what they do, it is too close to home for Nic not to investigate.
Meantime a car vanishes without a trace in Mildura, Victoria. Everyone knows making an elephant disappear is done with smoke and mirrors, but in this case it's a car worth over seven hundred thousand dollars, and cars can't drive away themselves...or can they?'
Then a dog and pony show gathers pace on Kangaroo Island, just off the coast of South Australia. Someone somewhere once said a horse is a horse and no one can talk to a horse of course, but what if the horse turns out to be on the wrong track, should it be left to the horse to jockey for position? Or, in this case if the punters are taken for a ride, who is going to saddle the responsibility?
A fun, relaxing read that will leave you wanting more and more.
