Novella nine - The constellation Gemini and the story of the twins, Castor and Polydeuces.

Leucippe was desperate to become a grandmother. Fed up with her son-in-law's lack of progress, she asked Zeus for help. When Zeus arrived, he took the opportunity, disguised himself as a swan, and then he did much more than just arrange for Leda to become pregnant. The Spartan twins grew up to become skilled horsemen, hunters, warriors, and adventurers. Despite being happily married and content to raise cattle and live a Sparten life, the chose to embark on many journeys together, and their adventures included sailing on the Argo with Jason on his quest for the golden fleece, being hunters at the Calydonian wild boar hunt, and skillfully fighting Trojans at Troy. It was their sister Helen, who was the central reason for that protracted and very tragic war.During this time, they befriended many other Greek heroes including Herakles, Atalanta, and Meleager.Together they faced numerous challenges and earned the praise and respect as heroes of the ancient Greek people, as they were regarded as brave loyal men, who despite length absences from their wives and families, remained faithful to them. Their travels earned them sufficient wealth to care for their families and justify their lengthy absences. The twins were honoured by Zeus for their bravery and commitment to each other, and he cast their image into the night sky to be forever remembered as the constellation of the Twins, which is now known as Gemini.
