Begging the Question

With their seeking out of common ground between strangers, mothers and daughters, friends and lovers, Jane Wiliams’s poems are full of warmth and delight in being alive. Bullies, funerals and ‘business as usual’ exist here, but so too does the possibility of being ‘surprised by joy’. The language is beautiful, sparse and understated.
