Council grass cutter-turned-sleuth Tom Trelawney is moonlighting as a groundsman at the imposing clifftop estate of Treludannan, home to the enigmatic turf tycoon Sir Terrance Chudleigh. However, nothing is what it seems at the country manor, and the further Tom investigates, the murkier the truths of Treludannan become.
