If you have intolerances to dairy and egg, many of the recipes are also dairy and egg free. In the back of the book there is a section that sorts the recipes into gluten, dairy and egg free to help you navigate recipes based on intolerances, if needed. Also, on the top of each recipe it clearly marks if the recipe is just Gluten Free or also Dairy and/or Egg Free.
When celiac hit our family, I did not want the gluten free family members to miss out on traditions. Most traditions and everyday life revolves around food and the kitchen table.
Think of everything that happens around a kitchen table ... breakfast, good long talks, thanksgiving, tears, games, decorating cookies, laughter, tea, large family gatherings, prayers, weeknight suppers, exciting news, Christmas, heart felt talks, birthday cakes, debates, hugs, coffee dates, and enjoying a special treat with a friend.
It made me think of the hundreds of times we sit around the table and enjoy time and food together. I HAD to figure out how to make gluten free food taste 'like home'! I have spent many hours revamping childhood recipes because I want to pass on the 'tastes of home' to our children ... gluten-free style! I am happy to say that the recipes in this book have great flavor and texture and taste like the food my Gram and mom made growing up.
It is with joy that I share these recipes from my country kitchen to yours. May you enjoy the recipes now and for years to come. It is my hope that it inspires and helps you to continue baking and enjoying traditions in your home, when you need to remove gluten from your diet.
Enjoy,
Teresa
