Record of Records

San Francisco poet Rod Roland listened over and over to every record from the collection given to him by fellow poet and visual artist Norma Cole. Record of Records is a compilation of the poems Roland wrote in response to each of these albums. In the words of Jackson Meazle, who wrote the introduction to this collection, the poems …are wonderfully elliptical at times in their brevity. He’s nailed the short form, in my opinion…They’re more like sculpture than poetry…kinetic in their shapes and material, expanding and contracting like a harmonica player breathing in and out of their little mouth organ.
