I could never understand why it was taking so long for us to live together again. My mother would tell us all the time that we would be together again. She and Clifford would promise to get me my own bed and bring us all home. I dreamt of that day for an awfully long time. I’d picture all of us together in our family room, eating cereal, sitting on the couch and being silly. That day never came.

Danielle M. Holder currently works as a nurse case manager and home health nurse who resides in Columbus, Ohio, with her son Shane. Danielle shares her story and experiences with the foster care system, abuse, neglect, and adoption. She discusses how she was thrust into the foster care system at the tender age of 4 and spent time in an orphanage and a few foster homes before being adopted.
